CT SharePoint Developer Group (CTSPDG) Event - Feb 15th (Wednesday) 5:30-8PM. "Building Custom Workflows in SharePoint 2010 Using Visual Studio 2010". This event will be held at the Microsoft Farmington office.

Workflows are central to the proper functioning of Businesses. Often these Business Processes or workflows are manual, time-consuming, and undependable. One of the highest Return on Investment features in SharePoint is the ability to design and implement Workflows. SharePoint contains a host of tools and technologies that enable business managers, IT managers, Architects, and software developers to automate business processes.
Defining workflows in SharePoint can be accomplished via out-of-the-box workflows (i.e. workflows that are part of a standard SharePoint install), customized workflows using SharePoint designer and info path forms, and highly configurable and customizable workflows using Visual Studio and Workflow Foundation such as state machine workflows and external communications.
In this presentation we will take an initial look at out-of-the-box workflows and then dive into certain scenarios where out-of-the-box workflows just don’t make the cut. We will also take a look at features in SharePoint designer that make it easy for designing and implementing custom workflows. Lastly, we will cover some advanced techniques to create and deploy workflows from Visual Studio.

The goal of the presentation is to provide you with a clear understanding of these tools and techniques.
Outline of the Presentation:
1.     New features in Sharepoint 2010 Worflows
2.     Types of Workflows in SharePoint 2010
3.     Sharepoint 2010 Out-of-box Workflows
4.     Building custom workflows and task processing using Sharepoint Designer
